Marble Falls Wal-Mart Manager Daryl Holley recently announced donations totaling more than $55,000 to local organizations.

Those benefiting included all three area school districts, Salvation Army, CASA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Meals on Wheels.

"We had 1,400 hours of documented time volunteered in this area from Relay for Life, volunteer fire departments, emergency medical service and school service and civic clubs," Holley said in a written statement. "In addition to the 1,400 hours, time was spent with school and church activities, Mustang Relays, Salvation Army Bell Ringers and the Walkway of Lights."

Wal-Mart has been member of the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce since 1985. There are 385 employees on the payroll, more than 80 percent of those are full-time employees.

On the average, 38,000 customers shop in the store each week and the store collected more than $7,000,000 in sales taxes last year.
